We are delighted to be working with a well-established and award winning financial services business based in Somerset.  The practice has more than doubled in size in recent years through organic growth.

They are currently seeking a Paraplanner to be based in either their Yeovil or Wells office

Overall purpose

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is ambitious and looking for their next challenge.

As a Paraplanner, you will assist a Financial Planner in their job. On any day you may be liaising with clients or providers to gather information, undertaking technical research and calculations, and drafting recommendations.

There is also the opportunity to be a part of client meetings which builds client relationships further and allows you to understand the entire breadth of the financial planning process. You don’t need to be restricted to the office desk!

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Maintain the accuracy of client data to assist in the on-going management of data, to ensure that the client records are accurate and consistent
  • Research and analyses client situations, construct suitable solutions in conjunction with the Financial Planner
  • Evaluate existing financial plan in line with client’s objectives, ensuring continues monitoring and highlight any shortfall
  • Ensure all communications to clients and third parties adhere to both external regulation and internal policies and procedures leading to an efficient, consistent approach
  • Ensure all communications to clients and third parties are of an exceptional standard in terms of English/grammar to assist the recipient in understanding the advice
  • Obtain and maintain adequate technical knowledge in all aspects that are advised on and apply this knowledge to clients’ individual circumstances to ensure suitable advice
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients in an efficient and professional manner and ensure a high level of service is provided
  • Ensure tasks are managed such that they are completed within a timely manner and presented to a high standard to ensure that all tasks are followed through to completion within a reasonable time scale

Expertise

  • This role requires working towards Diploma in Financial Planning / equivalent competency along with 3 years’ experience in a financial planning environment
  • Maintain knowledge of industry standards, regulations and current legislation to ensure all advice is appropriate and timely
  • Ability to apply knowledge to practical solutions
  • Ability to analyse client data and preparing cash flow analyses
  • Preparing and compiling financial analysis data
  • Good numeracy and reasoning skills
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High degree of organisational skills and attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines
  • IT literate (Microsoft office) and ideally previous experience of Financial Services back office systems

Level 4 Diploma required
