Stand Out From The Crowd

So, you are a great candidate for ‘that role’ but what happens if you aren’t the only one? Here’s some inspiration to be more memorable and win over an employer…

1. WEAR SOMETHING BOLD!
Wearing bold colours could be beneficial – Red, orange and yellow catch the eye the most.  Some interesting facts about colour representations; red signifies strength, green can alleviate stress, yellow inspires mental activity and energy, orange represents enthusiasm and determination whilst blue gives a calming presence and communicates intelligence.

2. SHOW PASSION!
Businesses want people who are eager to work with them and help them thrive – so show enthusiasm!  If you are lacking experience for the role, a genuine passion for the business could prove more valuable against a candidate with all the experience but zero excitement for the role or business.

3. ASK UNIQUE QUESTIONS
Use an interview as an opportunity to ask standout questions, i.e. ‘What one word would you use to describe your company?’ ‘What is your favourite thing about working for the company?’ ‘What is the most exciting part about working in this role?’ ‘How do you measure success on your team?’

4. START AND FINISH WITH GRATITUDE
Gratitude is a great quality to have, it brings memorable warmth. This can be as a simple as starting your meeting with ‘Thank you for taking the time to meet me today’ and again at the end of an interview or perhaps send a thank you email after your interview.

5. STRONG BODY LANGUAGE
Sitting up straight with your feet planted will ground you, shoulders back will naturally help de-stress your body, deep breathe to stay calm and making great eye contact and a smile will make you more engaging, show your confidence and leave a strong lasting impression.
