How To Calm Those Interview Jitters

5 TOP TIPS TO CALM INTERVIEW JITTERS

  1. BEAT THE SHAKES!
    Did you know that by squeezing your buttocks or thigh muscles makes it  practically impossible to have shaky hands!
     
  2. BREATHE!
    Just before you interview try breathing in through your nose very slowly for a count of three, then breathe out through your nose for a count of three. Repeat 3x.  This will significantly lower your heart rate and make your speech less rushed.
     
  3. BE PREPARED!
    The more you prep, the less you will worry. Pre-plan your questions, do your company research, practice your route, remember important names etc.
     
  4. GET PUMPED UP AND POSITIVE!
    Get rid of any negative or nervous thoughts by filling them with positivity and motivation instead. Listen to your favourite music, a podcast, a speech by your hero or watch a motivational video - whatever gets you pumped up. 
     
  5. RELAX THOSE SHOULDERS!
    It's easy to hunch/tense your shoulders when nervous. Be aware of this. Relax your shoulders back down, you will instantly feel calmer. Keeping your back straight and your shoulders square will show confidence, give you better breath and speech.
