Our client is a well-established IFA firm that provide private and corporate advice to clients on a national scale. This new exciting role will be suitable for a Training & Development professional with experience in a similar role within the Financial Planning space.

The Role

  • To assist in the design, implementation, delivery and recording of individual and group training activity in support of the company objectives and effective conduct of our business
  • To incorporate the training requirements of both advisory and non-advisory functions
  • To ensure the initial and ongoing competence of financial advisers within the business
  • Completion of T & C activity remains the responsibility of the Senior Manager
  • To support new entrants to the company in achieving competency (CAS sign-off for advisers) and minimising the time taken for new entrants to understand and be able to follow company process and standards and be productive in their respective roles
  • Assist in monitoring adherence to company policies and processes
  • Assessing the knowledge and skills of the workforce and identifying risks and training needs


  • Liaise with Senior Managers and Office Team Leaders – and analyse available MI - to identify individual and group training needs at a local level
  • Assist in the development and delivery of training programmes to address local training needs by using your ability to tailor a training approach to individual needs
  • Assist the Senior Development Manager in the design and implementation of national training programmes and support materials and participate in the delivery of such training
  • Assist in the delivery of company induction programmes to provide a positive introduction to the company for new entrants and effective training in the company’s standard processes and practices, such that attendees can be signed off induction ready to attend their office
  • Co-ordinate and lead the delivery of knowledge and skills training for new advisers and paraplanners until they are deemed to be competent, to minimise the period taken for them to make a meaningful contribution the business and increase the success rate and productivity of new advisers
  • Assist the Senior Managers in the completion of live client meetings and / or roleplays to further develop advisers to deliver the highest standards of compliance and client experience
  • Assist the Senior Manager and Office Team Leaders – and other colleagues, where relevant – in maintaining robust development plans and training records
  • Provide monthly reports to Senior Managers on outstanding and forthcoming T&C events
  • Provide monthly reports to the Senior Manager on the CPD records of their regulated reports
  • Support the regulated individuals in the completion and recording of CPD and company-mandated proficiency testing, to ensure they achieve and maintain the standards required to hold a Statement of Professional Standing
  • Under the direction of the Senior Development Manager, ensure company resource is employed efficiently. This may include participating in the delivery of training activity outside of local sphere of responsibility
  • Attend local team / department meetings to ensure understanding of team objectives, priorities and issues. Participate in the planning and delivery of training elements in such meetings
  • Report any emerging or crystallised risks to the Senior Development Manager
  • Demonstrate best practice in the field, in accordance with the company’s objectives, policies and standards
  • Provide absence cover for fellow Development Managers as required

Knowledge & Skills

  • Hold the level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning
  • Excellent Coaching, Presentation, Influencing, Organisation, Planning and Time Management skills with an attention to detail and an ability to handle change
  • Ability to demonstrate required level of technical knowledge and application of qualifications in the IFA environment
  • A comprehensive working knowledge of the FCA’s Principles for Businesses and Conduct of Business rules
  • Understanding of the corporate advice market and associated advice areas, including Auto Enrolment, workplace pensions, employee benefits and business protection. As-well as a Detailed understanding of retail finance including protection products, investments, pension products and tax planning solutions
  • Good understanding of the T&C regime within a principles-based regulation model and focus on the appropriate customer outcomes
  • Working knowledge of the implications of the Retail Distribution Review with reference to the area of adviser qualifications and Continuing Professional Development
