Senior Paraplanner (JR-1281)

£37000 - £40000 plus outstanding range of benefits and bonuses

We would like to speak with experienced paraplanners looking to progress within a highly respected Wealth Management firm near Oxford.

Our client is a directly authorised firm with almost 40 years of trading behind them. The company encourage continued career progression through additional industry qualifications.

Working within a team of 9, your main role will be to provide all employees with a focal point for technical enquiries and to produce compliant reports and supporting documentation for clients of the firm, both existing and potential, to support the recommendations made by Financial Advisers. As you settle into the role there is the potential of supervising a small team.

The highest level of client care and confidentially is an essential part of the role and you will be expected to match the firm’s highest standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as point of contact for technical enquiries from both Advisers and the Paraplanning team
  • Revise and update report templates in response to legislative changes
  • Analyse all client information and existing investments/insurances, to identify any gaps in the clients’ financial plans
  • Construct appropriate solutions for clients and make recommendations in conjunction with the advisers
  • Ability to form good internal relationships with all teams and departments
  • Write complex suitability reports for both existing and potential clients which are readable, compliant, and technically accurate. You will use templates but have the ability to write freehand, and have experience working on complex DB transfers
  • Liaise with Investment, and accounts and dealing teams in respect of reviews of existing investments and feasibility of in-specie transfers
  • Identify gaps in a client’s financial plans to increase sales opportunities – especially with regards to protection products
  • Present on technical issues at adviser meetings where necessary
  • Comply with the FCA’s Treating Customers Fairly requirements, and other requirements set out in the company manual and processes

Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Hold the Diploma level 4 and be at or working towards Chartered status
  • 5 years’ experience working in the financial services industry of which a minimum of 3 years has been in a paraplanning role
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and ideally Adviser Office, Volume and Pulse dealing system
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team, whilst managing workloads
  • Ability to work under pressure at times with excellent organisational skills
  • Mentor Junior members of the team and provide leadership
  • To gain a good knowledge of the business processes, standards, policies and procedures
  • Ability to explain complex issues in a clear and easy to understand manner
  • Grow level of technical knowledge and ensure remain up to date with changes in legislation

Ongoing Training:

  • Take part in any relevant in-house or external training as required
  • To attend relevant seminars and other presentations as appropriate to the needs established in the Training Needs Analysis review
  • To retain a record of personal CPD

Additional Responsibilities and limits of Authority:

  • To assist the Heads of other departments in any tasks where necessary
  • Any other duties which may reasonably be expected, and which fall within your capabilities or general area of responsibility
