£26000 - £30000 plus benefits

A long established and respected Financial Advisory organisation with a solid reputation for providing clients with trusted long-term advice seek an Operations Manager to join its Manchester office.

As Operations Manager, you will have direct management responsibility for a team of Administrators, ensuring they deliver an excellent level of service for clients and advisers whilst complying with internal and external regulations.


  • Reporting to the Head of Operations you will be responsible for the day to day running of a team of Administrators, managing daily activities to maximise staff performance and capability
  • Dealing with all basic issues that arise and leading on more complex issues
  • Distribute work to the team daily, manage and monitor attendance, sickness and holiday to ensure required staffing levels of the business
  • Motivate and further develop the teams’ skills and knowledge
  • To implement training and development plans for each member of the team. Individual performance and development to be managed through regular 1:1’s, annual appraisals and objective setting
  • Achieve business goals through regular monthly meetings
  • Ensure the team are compliant in line with FCA and internal regulations and procedures
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all colleagues
  • Deliver information in an accurate and timely fashion through regular meetings
  • Supervise the team on a day to day basis, dealing with issues from the team
  • Deal with performance, conduct, disciplinary or capability issues
  • A source of technical support for your administrators, offering guidance and training where applicable
  • Provide Administration support to the advisers where required to help meet the needs of the business and clients
  • Ensure changes to system procedures are implemented
  • Handle more complex queries from clients’ advisers and colleagues

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in an administration role within the financial services industry, with corporate and private wealth experience
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience of managing a team of ‘Operations’ based staff, preferably in a Financial Services environment
  • Full CF recommended or equivalent Financial Services qualification
  • Comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of financial products, including employee benefits products
  • Good knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Experience of carrying out 1:1 review meetings, performance appraisals and proven ability to effectively manage underperformance
  • Experience of recruitment and people development
  • Experience of working within defined service standards and procedures
  • Good track record in delivering customer satisfaction
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build and develop effective working relationships
  • Strong leadership and management skills with proven ability to motivate and deliver through others
  • Excellent administrative planning and organisational skills
  • A team player with an adaptable and flexible approach to work to suit business needs and changing priorities
