They are a well established firm with more than 200 employees. They are seeking a candidate to work in the specialist field of Pensions and Divorce, supporting Family Lawyers and providing Expert Witness Reports in relation to pension valuations as part of divorce settlements.

The Role

For the last 12 years, a small team of consultants lead by the company’s Resolution Accredited IFA has provided Expert Witness Reporting for Family Law Courts throughout the UK. However, as a result of the impending retirement of that Resolution Accredited IFA, the firm is looking to recruit an ambitious Actuary capable of assisting the business by growing their presence within this specialist field. 
The successful candidate would become their Expert Witness for the purposes of providing the Family Law Courts with proposals as to how pension matters are treated within the divorce settlement. 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required 

The successful candidate will be expected to either have, or be able to quickly acquire:
  • good knowledge of pensions and defined pension benefits valuations, in particular 
  • a robust understanding of pensions sharing and attachment, from a divorce settlement as governed by the Pensions Act 1995 and the Welfare Reform Act 1999
  • an understanding of the research and reporting recently completed by the Pensions Advisory Group (PAG) and in due course, to be in a position to develop the company’s Pension on Divorce Proposition to clients to conform with those proposals 
  • this is an exciting opportunity to be able to develop and grow the company’s presence in this specialist field by continuing to provide training seminars for Family Lawyers throughout the country and training within the company itself
  • you will have excellent communication and presentation skills and be able to build relationship with third parties and within the businesses Financial Planners  
  • you will be an ambitious and self motivated individual with a passion for Customer Service and Pensions
  • for the successful candidate there is enormous potential to build a successful and profitable department under their own leadership

Salary and Benefits

Competitive salary of £35,000 to £45,000 dependent on experience, with a discretionary bonus and a range of employee benefits which includes:
