Paraplanner, Yeovil (BW-1048)

£30000 - £45000 plus benefits

We are delighted to be working with a well established award winning financial services business based in Somerset.  The practice has more than doubled in size in recent years through organic growth.


They are currently seeking a Client Manager (Paraplanner) based in either their Yeovil or Wells office


Overall purpose


The overall purpose of this role is to provide technical support and workflow management to the Financial Planning team to ensure that client needs are met within Old Mill and regulatory standards. This will include, but not limited to, ensuring workflow is allocated to appropriate teams, preparations for client meetings and drafting written communications to clients.



Accountabilities and Responsibilities


  • Maintain the accuracy of client data to assist in the on-going management of data, to ensure that the client records are accurate and consistent
  • Research and analyses client situations, construct suitable solutions in conjunction with the Financial Planner
  • Evaluate existing financial plan in line with client’s objectives, ensuring continues monitoring and highlight any shortfall
  • Ensure all communications to clients and third parties adhere to both external regulation and internal policies and procedures leading to an efficient, consistent approach across the business
  • Ensure all communications to clients and third parties are of an exceptional standard in terms of English/grammar to assist the recipient in understanding the advice
  • Obtain and maintain adequate technical knowledge in all aspects that are advised on for Old Mill and apply this knowledge to clients’ individual circumstances to ensure suitability and accuracy of advice
  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients in an efficient and professional manner and ensure a high level of service is provided
  • Ensure tasks are managed such that they are completed within a timely manner and presented to a high standard to ensure that all tasks are followed through to completion within a reasonable time scale
  • Complete timesheets accurately on time

  • This role requires working towards Diploma in Financial Planning / equivalent competency along with 3 years’ experience in a financial planning environment
  • Maintain knowledge of industry standards, regulations and current legislation to ensure all advice is appropriate and timely
  • Adhere to Old Mill’s Training and Competence Scheme
  • Ability to apply knowledge to practical solutions
  • Ability to analyse client data and preparing cash flow analyses
  • Preparing and compiling financial analysis data
  • Good numeracy and reasoning skills
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • High degree of organisational skills and attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines
  • IT literate (Microsoft office) and ideally previous experience of Financial Services back office systems

  • You will act as the office-based point of contact on a non-advisory basis and will have to deal with a variety of providers and third parties
  • Ability to create tailored written communication to the client detailing complex information and recommendations
  • Understand the client’s requirements and deliver on time to a high standard
  • Factfinding and risk profiling must be completed; shortfalls raised with planner if necessary
  • Thoroughly analyse a situation to arrive at a recommendation in line with the client’s objective
  • Adhere to external regulation and internal policies



  • Have an understanding of advice and compliance processes and how these impacts the business.


  • Manage the client experience through to completion adhering to company protocol and procedures and ensuring all relevant staff are engaged
  • Building and maintain relationships with client and internal customers



  • The role holder has responsibility for achieving their own work and contributing on wider tasks when required


  • The ability to travel across all four offices when required





  • Level 4 Diploma required
